Athletes of the Week

May 17: Female - Heather Morabito, track & field, distance and hurdles, freshman, Ringwood/Lakeland - captured the 400 meter hurdles at the Haverford Twilight eet on May 12...posted a time of 64.18.

May 3:  Male - Mike Lanci, track & field, distance runner, senior, Ridley Park/Ridley - won the 3000 meter steeplechase with personal best time of 9:54.41 at the Kutztown University PSAC meet on May 1.

April 26:  Male - Givon Holmes, track & field, sophomore, sprinter, (Philadelphia/ Germantown-Lankenau)...finished 5th (22.66) in the 200 meters at the Millersville Metrics on April 24...placed 4th and qualified for PSAC’s in the 100m (11.32).

April 26:  Female - Kelly Walton, track & field, sophomore, distance runner, (East Berlin/ Dover)...provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in the 5000 meters...had the third-best time among all non-Division I runners...recorded a personal best time of 17:20.80 in the event during the Penn Relays.

April 5: Female - Heather Morabito, track & field, freshman, sprinter, (Ringwood/Lakeland) ...placed 10th in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.10 - her best of the year - at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA, April 2 & 3...was on the WCU distance medley relay team which finished 12th with a 12:45.8.

March 8:  Female - Kelly Walton, sophomore, indoor track (East Berlin/Dover)...finished ninth in the 5000 meters at the 1999 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships on March 6...posted a personal record time of 17:41.0 in the 5000, falling just five seconds shy of sixth place and the final All-American spot.

February 1:  Male - Todd Reinert, Jr., men’s indoor track, (Birdsboro/Twin Valley)...won long jump competition at University of Delaware meet on January 30...leap was 23-feet, 6 1/4 inches...he won the event and tied the WCU mark set in 1969 by Ken Charles...his distance also provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships...he also claimed second place in the 60-meter dash (7.08) and in the 200m event (23.23). His time in the 200m was a personal best.

December 14:  Male - Todd Reinert, Fr., men’s indoor track, (Birdsboro/Twin Valley)...won long jump competition with a leap of 23 feet, 4 inches at Haverford Invitational on Dec. 11...provisionally qualified for NCAA II Indoor Nationals...qualified for the ECAC II Indoor Championships...also qualified for the ECAC’s in 55m, finishing third with his time of 6.6.

December 16

Reinert, Walton earn provisional ticket

HAVERFORD, PA - The West Chester University indoor track team kicked off the 1998-99 season with a strong performance at the Haverford Invitational on December 11.

Junior Todd Reinert (Birdsboro/Twin Valley) and sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) earned provisional qualifying marks for the 1999 NCAA Division II National Indoor Track Championships during the event.

Reinert won the long jump competition with a leap of 23 feet, 4 inches to earn his provisional score. Walton, the Golden Rams All-American women’s cross country runner, placed fourth in the 5000 meters to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division II Nationals. She posted a time of 17:44.6.

Both athletes qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Championships later this winter. Reinert also qualified for the ECAC’s in the 55-meter dash, finishing third with his time of 6.6.

Joining the duo at ECAC’s from the women’s team will be freshman Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East), who placed third in the 1500 meters (5:05.1).

Men qualifying for the ECAC II Championships included sophomore Ed Keys (West Fairview/East Pennsboro), who won the 55-meter hurdles (8.1), and freshman Chris Baurer (Harleysville/Souderton), who was second (8.2) in the same event.

Sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau) qualified for the ECAC’s in the 55m dash (6.5) by placing second. Although it wasn’t quite good enough to qualify, Holmes also placed second in the 200 meters (22.9).

Freshman Rob Leite (York/Central York) qualified in a pair of events in his first collegiate indoor meet. He will represent WCU at the ECAC’s in the 55m dash after tying Reinert for third at Haverford (6.6). But his biggest accomplishment was winning the triple jump competition with a leap of 46-6.

The Golden Rams also received solid performances from non-qualifiers. For the men, junior Mike Senko (Lanoka Harbor/Lacey TWP) was third in the high jump (6-2).

The women were led by freshman shot put specialist Meghan Randler (Coatesville/Coatesville) who launched a throw 35-5, good enough for second place.

Sophomore Mandy Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) won the 55-meter hurdles competition with a 9.2, while freshman Michelle Delany (Quarryville/Solanco) was third (10.0).

The 1500 meters saw a pair of Golden Rams record personal bests. Sophomore Steph Moss (Shillington/Governor Mifflin) took fifth place in the 1500m with a 5:10.3, while sophomore Vickie Ludwig (Ramsey/Ramsey) wound up sixth with a 5:10.4.

January 29

 Reinert wins 2 events at Haverford

HAVERFORD, PA - Junior Todd Reinert (Birdsboro/Twin Valley) captured both the 55-meter dash and the long jump competition to lead the men’s indoor track team to a solid showing at the 1999 Haverford Invitational.

Reinert won the 55m with a time of 6.4, while his leap of 23 feet, 3/4 inches was also good enough for first place. Sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau) placed fourth in the 55m (6.6).

The Golden Rams also received personal record performances from a plethora of competitors. Junior Jason Britton (New Freedom/Susquehannock) set a personal record in the 400m (53.0), while sophomore Vince Zingaro (Glenmoore/Kings) recorded a personal best in the 1500m (4:26.7). Freshman Greg DiNapoli (North Brunswick, NJ/North) posted a personal record in the 3000m (9:58.7).

Sophomore Ryan Oxenford (Stowe/Pottsgrove) qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Indoor Championships with his 12-6 pole vault clearance. Freshman John Anderson (Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg) set a personal mark in the event (11-0).

Herzog claims 4th in 55m hurdles

HAVERFORD, PA - Sophomore Amanda Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) took fourth place in the 55-meter hurdles at the Haverford Invitational on January 23. She posted a time of 9.1.

Herzog was just one of many Golden Ram runners to record solid finishes at the invitational.

Sophomore distance runner Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) was one of five Golden Rams to post personal bests in the 800m. She turned in an indoor personal best time of 2:28.9. Walton also placed fifth and qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Championships with an indoor personal record of 4:58.2 in the 1500m.

Sophomore Jaclyn Distefano (Broomall/Marple Newtown) also set an indoor personal record in the 800m (2:30.6), while freshman Diana Rouzer-Farnish (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) checked in with an indoor best time of 2:32.5.

Overall 800m best times were recorded by sophomores Victoria Ludwig (Ramsey/Ramsey) and Stephanie Moss (Shillington/Governor Mifflin). Ludwig earned a time of 2:34.8, while Moss finished with a 2:36.1.

The WCU 1600m relay teams finished third and fourth at the Haverford Invitational. The squad of freshman Michelle Delaney (Quarryville/Solanco), Ludwig, freshman Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) and Rouzer-Farnish combined for a third-place finish (4:37.2).

The fourth-place team (4:38.4) featured freshman Karin Milovanovic (Mt. Joy/Donegal), Walton, Moss and Distefano.

Freshman Meghan Randler (Coatesville/Coatesville) won the shot put competition with an excellent throw of 34-8.

February 5

Todd Reinert ties 30-year-old long jump mark

NEWARK, DE - Junior Todd Reinert (Birdsboro/Twin Valley) flew a long way to connect two periods of time. The junior multi-eventer tied the West Chester University men’s indoor long jump record by leaping 23-feet, 6 1/4 inches at the University of Delaware Indoor Invitational on January 30.

Reinert’s distance not only gave him a first-place prize in the event, it also tied the Golden Ram mark set in 1969 by Ken Charles. His distance also provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships.

Reinert then claimed second place in the 60-meter dash (7.08) and in the 200m event (23.23). His time in the 200m was a personal best.

The Golden Rams also received strong performances from four freshmen. The women’s team was represented by rookie runner Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East), who took third in the 3000 meters (11:09.19), and freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood, NJ/Lakeland), who was sixth in the 500m (1:24.74). Morabito qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Indoor Championships with her time.

In addition to Reinert, the men were bolstered by freshman Chris Bauer (Harleysville/Souderton) who took sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.17). Freshman Robert Leite (York/Central York) placed fourth in the triple jump (41-10) competition.

March 2

 Reinert sets WCU long jump record at ECAC’s

NEW HAVEN, CT - The West Chester University men's indoor track team finished ninth and the women's team took 13th at the 1999 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Indoor Track Championships.

The two-day event was hosted by Southern Connecticut in New Haven, CT, on Saturday and Sunday, February 27 & 28. The men totaled 19 points, while the women scored two.

The men were led by junior Todd Reinert (Birdsboro/Twin Valley) who broke his own indoor long jump record with a leap of 23 feet, eight inches. He improved his NCAA Division II provisional qualifying distance with the second-place leap, but fell just 1.5 inches shy of heading to Indianapolis for Nationals.

Reinert also finished fifth in the 55 meters (6.58), while Rob Leite (York/Central York) placed fourth in the long jump (22-5) and sixth in the triple jump (46-5). Both Reinert and Leite earned All-ECAC honors.

The men's 4x200 relay team finished fourth at the ECAC’s in a time of 1:36.34. Junior Jason Britton (New Freedom/Susquehannock), freshman Chris Bauer (Harleysville/Souderton) and Jay Sturgis (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt), and sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau) earned All-ECAC honors for their finish.

The women were led by the distance medley relay team (12:44.17) of sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover), freshmen Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland) and Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East), and sophomore Steph Moss (Shillington/Governor Mifflin).

Walton ran the 1200 meters in 3:49, while Morabito finished the 400m in 62.3. Dickerson (mile - 5:19.1) and Moss (800m - 2:31.8) rounded out the events. All four runners set personal records in their legs of the race and earned All-ECAC honors. The Golden Rams placed sixth.

Walton also was named All-ECAC in the mile (5:20.30) after placing sixth, while Dickerson grabbed eighth in the 5000 meters with a time of 19:06.72. That mark was good enough to qualify her for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this May.

Although she did not earn All-ECAC honors, Morabito claimed seventh in the 500 meters (83.31) and set a personal best time.

Walton heading to Nationals again

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Sophomore distance runner Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) is heading to the NCAA Division II Nationals again.

This past fall, Walton earned Division II Cross Country All-American honors after competing at the NCAA II Championships in Kansas. This time, Walton is heading to Indianapolis, IN, to compete in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships.

The event is being held in the RCA Dome, home of the Indianapolis Colts, on Saturday, March 6.

Walton earned her pass to Nationals in the 5000 meters after posting a time of 17:44.6 at Haverford in December.

She is the first Golden Ram to participate in the Indoor National Championships since 1992 when Matt Sandercock competed in the 5000m.

Crystal Durnell was last women to compete in Nationals. She was entered in the long jump competition in 1987, and she was the last WCU Indoor All-American - male or female.

March 24

 Walton finishes 9th at NCAA II Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Sophomore runner Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) finished ninth in the 5000 meters at the 1999 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. The event was held in the RCA Dome, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, March 3-6.

Walton posted a personal record time of 17:41.0 in the 5000m, falling just five seconds shy of sixth place and the final All-American spot. Walton was a Division II All-American in cross country this past fall.

April 16

Golden Rams Split PSAC Tri-Meet with Cheyney, ESU

WEST CHESTER, PA - The West Chester University men’s and women’s track & field teams produced 1-1 records at the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tri-meet. The meet was held in John A. Farrell Stadium under the lights on Friday evening, April 9.

The WCU women defeated Cheyney 60-9, but lost to East Stroudsburg 79-60. The men also beat Cheyney (91-12), but fell to ESU (95-91). The meet was halted midway through due to a severe lightning storm marching through the West Chester area.

Both teams are 1-1 on the season.

Senior Mike Lanci (Ridley Park/Ridley) won the men’s steeplechase (10:19.3), while freshman Chris Bauer (Harleysville/Souderton) captured the men’s 110 hurdles (16.10).

The women’s team saw sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) win the 1500 meters with a time of 4:54.71. Sophomore Steph Moss (Shillington/Governor Mifflin) took the 5000 meters (19:43.7), while sophomore Mary Ovelman (Broomall/Marple Newtown) claimed the women’s 400m (1:07.35).

Morabito places 10th at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The West Chester University track & field teams utilized a little warmth from a slightly southern tour to shine at the 1999 Colonial Relays. The event was held April 2 and 3 in Williamsburg, VA.

Freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland) placed 10th in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.10 - her best of the year.

In the men's 400m hurdles, freshman Chris Bauer (Harleysville/Souderton) posted a personal record time of 58.68.

The Golden Rams were solid in the 1500m as well. The men were led by sophomore Vince Zingaro (Glen-moore/Kings), who checked in with a personal best time of 4:14.85, while sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) took ninth overall for the women with her personal record 4:47.06.

The men's 4x100m relay squad turned in its best time of the year (44.05) by finishing 12th, while senior Mike Lanci (Ridley Park/Ridley) recorded a personal best for the season in the 3000m steeplechase (10:11.3).

The women's distance medley relay team also finished 12th with a 12:45.8. The squad was comprised of Walton, Morabito, sophomore Jackie DiStefano (Broomall/Marple Newtown) and freshman Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East).

The 12th-place theme continued with the men's sprint medley relay squad which registered a 3:42.21 behind freshmen Jay Sturgis (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) and Jim Gahagen (Philadelphia/Cardinal Dougherty), sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau), and Jason Ryder.

The men's long jump saw freshman Rob Leite (York/Central York) placed fifth with a leap of 22-10.

Herzog, Holmes qualify for PSAC’s

WEST CHESTER, PA - Sophomore Amanda Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) won the 100-meter hurdles and qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at the 1999 West Chester University Invitational on March 27.

Herzog posted a time of 15.6 to qualify for the PSAC’s, which will be held at IUP May 6-8. She also captured the 100m with a mark of 12.9, while sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) won the 1600m (5:11.40).

The men were led by sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau), who also qualified for the PSAC's in the 200m with his 22.4 first-place finish.

Rob Leite places 2nd in long jump at Penn

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The West Chester University men’s and women’s track teams turned in a solid showing at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational on March 21.

The men were led by freshman Rob Leite (York/Central York) who placed second in the long jump with his leap of 6.54 meters.

Sophomore Ryan Oxenford (Stowe/Pottsgrove) tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of 12 feet, 6 inches, while sophomore Wesley Derr (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) grabbed seventh in the javelin toss with a 170-0.

The women were strong in the 1500 meters as sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) recorded her best time of the year and finished sixth (4:54.2), and sophomore Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) posted a personal record 5:00.90. Freshman Victoria Ludwig (Ramsey/Ramsey) earned a personal best as well (5:04.1).

Freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland) finished fourth and qualified for the PSAC Championships in the 400 hurdles with her 68.1.

April 27

Walton's Mark at Penn Rleays May Earn Her Pass to NCAAs

MILLERSVILLE, PA - The West Chester University men placed 12th and the women finished 10th at the 21st Annual Millersville Metrics. The 19-team men’s event and the 15-team women’s competition was hosted by Millersville University on April 24.

The women’s team posted 22 points and was led by freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland) who finished second in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:04.22.

Freshman Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) also claimed a second-place finish in the 3000 meters. Dickerson smashed her own personal record in the event by 25 seconds, and she qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships. The PSAC’s are being hosted by IUP May 6-8.

Sophomore Mandy Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) grabbed a fifth-place finish in the 100m hurdles (16.13).

The men were led by senior Mike Lanci (Ridley Park/Ridley) who recorded a personal best in the steeplechase with his 10:00.4. He finished second in the event.

Sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau) qualified for the PSAC’s in the 100 meters with his excellent time of 11.32. He finished fourth in the race. Holmes was strong in the 200 meters as well, crossing the finish line in fifth with a 22.66.

Sophomore Ryan Oxenford (Stowe/Pottsgrove) also qualified for the PSAC Championships with his clearance of 13-feet, 6 1/4 inches in the pole vault.

Walton provisionally qualifies for Nationals

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) is trying to make it a perfect trifecta this year.

In the fall she finished 21st at the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships to earn All-American honors. This winter, she competed in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, IN, during the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships.

On April 22, Walton provisionally qualified for the 1999 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships during the Penn Relays.

Her time of 17:20.80 in the 5000 meters was a personal record. It was also the third best time among all non-Division I programs.

The Penn Relays also saw the Golden Rams turn in the best time of the season for the women’s 4x400m relay team. Freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland), sophomores Jaclyn Distefano (Broomall/Marple Newtown) and Mary Ovelman (Broomall/Marple Newtown), and freshman Karin Milovanovic (Mt. Joy/Donegal) teamed up in the race.

Morabito wins 400m hurdles at Widener

CHESTER, PA - Freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland) won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:04.37 to lead the West Chester University women's track & field team to an outstanding performance at the 1999 Widener University Invitational.

The event was hosted by Widener University in Chester, PA, on April 17.

Morabito also placed fourth in the 100m hurdles (16.37), while freshman Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) ran a 4:58.49 in the 1500m to finish 12th. Dickerson's time qualified her for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships in May.

Sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) also qualified for the PSAC's in the 800m by taking 12th (2:22.37), while sophomore Victoria Ludwig (Ramsey/Ramsey) recorded a personal best mark in the 800m (2:26.12).

Freshman Karin Milovanovic (Mt. Joy/Donegal) produced maybe the best performance of the day. She took seventh in the 400m hurdles (1:10.71), third in the 200m (27.64) and fifth in the 100m (13:13). Her 100m time qualified her for the PSAC Championships.

Sophomore Mandy Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) also posted a solid time in the 100m hurdles with her 15:93.

In the relay events, Walton, sophomore Jaclyn Distefano (Broomall/Marple Newtown), Ludwig and sophomore Mary Ovelman (Broomall/Marple Newtown) turned in a time of 4:26.4 to place sixth in the 4x400m relay.

In the 4x100, the Golden Rams grabbed third thanks to Milovanovic, Morabito, Herzog and sophomore Melissa Good (Bedminster/Pennridge). The foursome posted a time of 52.16.

The men were led by freshman Chris Baur (Harleysville/Souderton) who placed eighth in the 400m hurdles and qualified for the PSAC Championships with his time of 57.54. He was also sixth in the 110m hurdles (16.10).

Freshman Rob Leite (York/Central York) grabbed second in the triple jump with his leap of 43-feet, 5 inches.

May 11

Walton wins Kutztown 3000m

INDIANA, PA - The West Chester University women's track and field team finished 10th with 16 team points, while the men wound up 12th with four at the 1999 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships.

The three-day event was hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania May 6-8 in Indiana, PA.

The women were led by sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) who took fourth in the 1500 meters with a personal record time of 4:45.14. She then claimed third place in the 3000m with a personal best 10:12.53.

Freshman Heather Morabito (Ringwood/Lakeland) placed third in the 400m hurdles with a 1:03.94. During the preliminaries, she recorded a 1:03.03 to set a personal record and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track Championships. The NCAA’s will be held May 27-29 at Emporia State University in Emporia, KS.

She also automatically qualified for the Junior Nationals at Northwest Texas State in late June.

Morabito then teamed up with sophomores Jackie Distefano (Broomall/Marple-Newtown) and Mary Ovelman (Broomall/Marple-Newtown), and freshman Karin Milovanovic (Mt. Joy/Donegal) to post a season's best time in the one-mile relay. The squad finished seventh.

Sophomore Amanda Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) also reached the finals for WCU in the 100m hurdles by recording a 15.89 mark during the prelims.

Sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau) led the men by scoring the only team points for WCU. He finished fourth in the 100m with an 11.03. Holmes reached the finals by recording a 10.93 - his best time of the year. Freshman Rob Leite (York/Central York) qualified for the finals with Holmes in the 100m by posting an 11.16.

Freshman Chris Bauer (Harleysville/Souderton) recorded a 56.86 in the 400m hurdles during the preliminaries, setting a personal best while reaching the finals in the event. He eventually finished seventh, setting another personal record with a 56.33.

Golden Rams finish 3rd at KU

KUTZTOWN, PA - The West Chester University men’s and women’s track and field teams evened their season records to 3-3 after finishing third at the 1999 Kutztown University Qualifier on May 1.

The WCU men posted 62 team points, falling to Kutztown and East Stroudsburg, but defeating Bloomsburg and Cheyney.

The 100 meter dash saw freshman Rob Leite (York/Central York) place fourth with a personal record time of 11.16, while sophomore Givon Holmes (Philadelphia/Germantown-Lankenau) took second in the 200m (22.03). His time was also a personal best.

Holmes also claimed third-place in the 400 meter dash (50.51), setting another personal record in the process.

Freshman Chris Bauer (Harleysville/Souderton) was ninth in the 200m (23.85), but saved his best performance for the 110m hurdles by taking third (15.66). His time in the hurdles was a personal best.

One of the big winners for the Golden Rams was senior Mike Lanci (Ridley Park/Ridley) who won the 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:54.41. Junior Mike Edelman (Elverson/Twin Valley) placed sixth (11:18.93).

The Golden Rams were well-represented in the 5000m run. Sophomore Vince Zingaro (Glenmoore/Kings) crossed the finish line in third place (16:33.2), while freshman Greg DiNapoli (North Brunswick/North) grabbed fourth with his best time ever (16:54.4). Junior Ryan Phillips (Toms River, NJ/Toms River) placed eighth (17:34.1) and senior Nick Tantaros (Media/Penncrest) was ninth (18:04.9).

In the javelin competition, sophomore Wesley Derr (Mechanicsburg/Conestoga Valley) launched a second-place throw of 186 feet - a personal best. Sophomore Ryan Oxenford (Stowe/Pottsgrove) wound up third in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-0.

The women’s team tallied 67 points to also finish third and even up its record at 3-3. Kutztown and East Stroudsburg went 1-2, while Bloomsburg and Cheyney finished 4-5.

Sophomore Kelly Walton (East Berlin/Dover) won the 3000 meter run with a personal best time of 10:22.01, setting up a strong performance by the Golden Rams in the distance events.

The Golden Rams also picked up a pair of personal best times in the 5000 meter run. Sophomore Stephanie Moss (Shillington/Governor Mifflin) finished second with a 19:39.45, while junior Heather Spearing (Hatboro/Upper Moreland) took third with a 20:19.33.

Sophomore Mandy Herzog (Blandon/Fleetwood) posted a personal record in the 100m (13.1) and finished third in the event. Freshman teammate Karin Milovanovic (Mt. Joy/Donegal) took fifth in the 100m (13.21), while sophomore Melissa Good (Bedminster/Pennridge) was eighth (13.74). Good ended up fourth in the long jump with a leap of 15-2 1/4.

In the 100m hurdles, it was Herzog again finishing strong with a fourth-place time of 15.76.

Milovanovic also placed seventh in the 200m (27.47), and rookie Michelle Delany (Quarryville/Solanco) was ninth (28.68). Delany was sixth in the 100m hurdles (17.06).

The 800m run featured a fifth-place finish by sophomore Victoria Ludwig (Ramsey/Ramsey) with her 2:27.22, while freshman Katie Dickerson (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) took second in the 1500m run (4:54.94).
